I was at york chaplaincy yesterday and I heard something quite new to me. The priest said “Grace does not destroy nature but perfects it.” Unconsciously it started to sink down into my heart. It was only when I went back to the chaplaincy today realizing the beauty and truth of the statement. When we go to confession we receive a grace that restores us and perfects us once again in God.
We fall short of grace everyday and it is just in our broken nature that this happens. I was reminded that the spiritual life is a journey, we will face trials, we will stumble, we will have to climb mountains, and go down valleys. It is not an easy road but it is in this reason that someone went ahead of us and others journey with us. We are not alone for the Holy Spirit resides in us and leads us to God.
haha, this was really random but just wanted to share how I felt about what I heard yesterday.
